Equipment life cycle
Compare up to four machines by total cost of ownership: investment, energy, maintenance, consumables, service life and residual value.
Preliminary estimate, not a contractual budget
Each value shows where it comes from: supplier quote, published price, historical estimate, index or own assumption. Only a firm, valid quote commits a price.

How to use it
- 1Enter the data for each offer: price, installation, consumption, maintenance, consumables, service life, residual value and output per hour.
- 2Enter the energy price and your discount rate.
- 3Compare the equivalent annual cost and the cost per unit produced, not just the purchase price.
How it calculates
- Present value of costs = investment + installation + annual costs × annuity factor − discounted residual value.
- Equivalent annual cost = present value × capital recovery factor, r (1 + r)ⁿ / ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1). It allows machines with different lifespans to be compared.
- Energy per year = average power × hours × price. Cost per unit = equivalent annual cost / annual output.
Verifiable example
In the fictitious example, compressor A costs €55,000 installed and B €75,000. With energy at €0.15/kWh and 6%, A comes to €16,093 a year and B to €13,622: the most expensive to buy is the cheapest over its life, because it uses less and lasts longer.
Limitations
- Constant euros, without taxes, differential inflation or financing.
- It assumes the same use every year and that the machine is replaced by an identical one at the end of its life.
