Calculation version: finance@1.0.0. The calculation runs in your browser: we don't send or store the amounts you enter. We only count, without identifying you, that the tool has been used.
How to use it
- 1Use fixed costs and prices for the same period (month or year).
- 2Price excluding VAT.
- 3The variable cost is what each additional unit costs.
How it calculates
- Unit contribution margin = price − variable cost
- Break-even units = fixed costs / unit margin
- Break-even revenue = units × price
Verifiable example
€10,000 of fixed costs, price €50 and variable cost €30: 500 units and €25,000 of revenue.
Limitations
- It assumes constant price and variable cost.
- It doesn't consider income tax or financing.
- If the price doesn't exceed the variable cost there's no break-even point.
