Calculation version: personal@1.0.0. The calculation runs in your browser: we don't send or store the amounts you enter. We only count, without identifying you, that the tool has been used.
How to use it
- 1Enter the starting value: a price, a salary, a bill…
- 2Enter the change as a percentage (negative if it falls) and how many times in a row it repeats.
How it calculates
- After one change: value × (1 + p).
- After n changes in a row: value × (1 + p)ⁿ.
- To get back to the starting value you need a change of 1 / (1 + p) − 1.
- Purchasing power of a fixed amount: value / (1 + p)ⁿ.
Verifiable example
1,000 with a 3% increase becomes 1,030; with ten 3% increases in a row, 1,343.92 (34.39% more). After a 25% increase, a 20% decrease is needed to get back.
Limitations
- It assumes the same percentage every time.
